Four ways to appreciate yourself this holiday season
Hello, holidays—hello nostalgia.
The holidays have a powerful way of making us all reminisce about our childhood memories, our history with our family, and what makes us feel joyful. I get very nostalgic this time of year (and it’s normal).
The nostalgia always moves me to reflect on what happened in the past year, what worked and what didn’t, what makes me happy, and what I’m grateful for in my life. Ordinarily, I spend time reflecting on my relationships or what others have done for me—but this year I’m changing things up.
Instead of pushing my thankfulness onto others, I’m claiming responsibility for my life. I’m thanking myself for a change—and I’m expressing gratitude for all the things I have done for myself.
Yes, it might sound somewhat selfish, but think about it… who could make you feel more joyful than you?!
I’m acknowledging everything I do to create more happiness and more health in my life because taking care of myself is a ✨ MAJOR joy sparkler ✨ that helps me bring more vibrancy into my personal relationships, my business, and my own personal healing journey.
The truth is, we all have things to do eeeeevery single day, and some things are more fun than others. I’ve realized that if we focus on the things we have to do, we aren’t approaching our lives in a way that invites in happiness—we’re inviting stress, lack, fear, and judgement… and who wants that? Not me.
So, what if we focused on the things we can do for ourselves? That make us happy? And then incorporated those things into our daily routines to invite a steady flow of positive energy into our homes, our minds, relationships, and bodies?
If you’re anything like me, you love trying out new ways to bring feelings of happiness into your life—so I’m sharing some of mine (that are basically free) and I invite you to share what makes you happy in the comments section as well so that we can inspire each other to keep ourselves on track.

I love taking a long walk with my doggies every morning. We pass by the water while the sun rises and the physical activity blended with the fresh air have a way of clearing my mind.
The walk reconnects me with my magic—and reminds me of the lively nature that is within me. This walking ritual gives me true ‘ME time’ before all the emails and people interactions. I’ve been doing this every day for almost 9 years and it still continues to make me happy.
2. Waking up your senses
To wake up my body and reset my energy for the day, I take an ice cold shower. The cold shower works to increase your circulation—and I use a loofah to stimulate my skin for added lymphatic drainage.
I envision all the icky stuff freezing away and it helps me mentally release anything that is standing in my way.
Yeah, it’s weird—but it’s my thing and I love it. You don’t have to do this, but I do recommend you find a way to wake up your senses and make your body tingle. ;)
