What Should You Eat After a Juice Cleanse?
What Should You Eat After a Juice Cleanse?
A HABIT SHIFTING CLEANSE IS LIKE A 21-DAY ELEVATOR RIDE.
EACH DAY OF YOUR CLEANSE, YOU GO UP A LEVEL HIGHER ON THE ELEVATOR.
WHEN YOU FINISH YOUR CLEANSE, THE DOORS OPEN TO A PLACE OF ELEVATED STANDARDS.
DO YOU GET OFF THE ELEVATOR (ACCEPTING NEW STANDARDS + GROUNDING DOWN NEW HABITS), OR DO YOU GO BACK DOWN TO WHERE YOU STARTED BEFORE YOUR CLEANSE?
MAGICAL TIP: STEP OFF THE ELEVATOR, IT’S AMAZING HERE!
People always ask me two things after they finish a juice cleanse, “What’s the best way to phase back into eating solid food? And what exactly should I eat?”
Three to five days of juicing makes you feel incredible, and most people feel like they’re on the brink of a health crisis if they immediately jump back into their regular eating habits after a juice cleanse.
Believe me when I say: If you’re feeling this way, you are not alone. Easing into your juice cleanse, and having a plan to ease out of it, is just as important as the cleanse itself.
Medical professionals often tout that ‘the re-feeding process [after fasting] is just as important, if not more important, than the fast itself.’
Put in simpler terms: Your body activates its ‘ultimate healing mode’ right after a detox, and it would be a shame to let all that hard work go to waste by eating a burger and fries.
With 7 years of health coaching under my belt, I see first hand how difficult it is to shift deeply engrained health habits. So, I’d like to offer you a fresh perspective that might help during moments of weakness… If you use your cleanse as a vehicle to heal your body and mix in meal plans for a total of 21 days to solidify new habits, you can make a long-term shift!
Here’s my ideal habit shifting program that phases you into a juice cleanse and phases you out.
Phase 2: Juicing for a Full Body Detox
Now that you’ve prepped your body, it’s time for the real cleanse (the cold-pressed juice cleanse).
If you’re a beginner, we recommend you try the 5-Day Daring Cleanse.
It includes a mix of cold-pressed green + root + fruit juices that work together to bring in an influx of vitamins + minerals with naturally occurring sugars to keep your glucose levels stable throughout the day. Most of us feel the harsh effects of cutting out sugar cold-turkey, and this cleanse helps lessen detox side-effects which may include headaches and fatigue.
If you’re a clean eater and already love juice cleansing, we recommend you try the Fearless Cleanse.
This cleanse is comprised of 6 green juices per day and contains fewer naturally occurring sugars than root + fruit juices. Our green juice blends are rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamin A, and vitamin C—all adding up to be beneficial for your digestive system, lungs, and liver.
Phase 1: Priming Your Body for a Cleanse
We recommend you prime your body with a 3-5 Day Food + Juice Kit before doing a juice cleanse.
Why? It’s a clean meal plan that allows you to eliminate gluten, dairy, meat, preservatives, and artificial sugars that throw your body into a state of havoc.
This initial stage allows you to begin the detoxification process gently, while also reducing your body’s inflammation. An inflamed body does not operate effectively, and by priming your body with a Food + Juice Kit you’ll feel more hydrated and balanced (your pH levels will literally be less acidic)—all of which translates into you feeling more energized and powerful.
Feeling skeptical? Studies conducted at UCLA found that 3 days is enough to help you improve your hydration, decrease lipid per-oxidation, increase nitric oxide, and alkalize your body.

Phase 3: Activate Ultimate Healing Mode
Meal Plans to Try: Chef AK Meal Plan, Food + Juice Kit, Intermittent Fasting Cleanse.
The key to incorporating solid food back into your diet is to do so slowly. We recommend you shift directly into our Soup + Juice Cleanse for at least 3 days, and follow with a meal plan cleanse to take you to the finish line.
Here’s why…
In first few days of Phase 3, it’s important to incorporate water-rich foods because they are very kind to your digestive system. Examples of water-rich foods include melon, papaya, and citrus fruits. What’s not recommended during this time is dried fruit, bananas, celery, and cucumbers.
In days 4-5 of Phase 3, we recommend incorporating fiber-rich, non-starchy vegetables (raw or lightly steamed cucumber, tomatoes, bell peppers), and raw green leafy salads topped with raw, non-starchy vegetables and dressed with fresh lemon or raw apple cider vinegar.
In days 6-7 of Phase 3, your body is ready for “dense” foods to make a comeback in your diet. Lightly cooked starchy vegetables (yams, winter squash) and whole grains (e.g. brown rice, barley, quinoa) are great options!
On A Personal Note…
After my first 3-week juice cleanse, I knew I wanted to stay on a raw plant-based diet for the foreseeable future… and luckily, I was enrolled in a health coaching program that helped me focus on creating new habits to heal my melasma and just feel better overall. After six months of seeing and feeling the results, I allowed myself to add in cooked foods again—along with the occasional glass of wine or margarita!
This is what works for me, and I created Magic Mix to make living a healthy life easier for you.
Your dietary magic mix might look different than my dietary magic mix—and that’s exactly why we developed a variety of over six different cleanses + meal plans. No one meal plan fits all, and we won’t pretend it ever could; you have specific needs and we have options.
Try this cleansing schedule for 21 days to create new habits, and I promise you it will feel easy to transition back to ‘life.’
Xoxoxo.
Stay Magical,
